Offered is a rare circa 1948-49 Thorp Sporting Goods Football. Made by Wilson and distributed by the Thorp Sporting Goods Company. This vintage Bert Bell football has “National Football League” branded under the Thorp logo. In 1950, the AAFC merged with the NFL and the expanded league was divided into two Conferences. This football is a pre-merger football because it is absent the “Eastern” and “Western” conferences verbage in the stampings as was present on post merger footballs.
The Patina is Wonderful. New bladder and Laces. (Wilson). Some scuffing where relacing took place.
